Jumbo Fairpartner...
21/12/2009

Jumbo Shipping’s HLV Fairpartner successfully discharged the longest load in Jumbo’s 41-year history of Heavy Lift Shipping. End of October, two tanker barges were loaded on board in Nantong, China. One of the barges, weighing over 1330 tonnes, had a record length of 135 m, the longest piece of cargo ever lifted by a Jumbo Heavy Lift vessel. The combination of length, weight and discharging method produced a record lift: the 1300 tonne load was lifted over portside at an outreach of 31 m.

The second barge had only slightly smaller dimensions: 1100 tonnes and a length of 130 m. After being stacked on top of each other, the ships’ crew safely lashed and secured them before starting their long journey to Rotterdam, The Netherlands, via Cape Good Hope.

On arrival, the Fairpartner’s twin 900t mastcranes easily lifted the barges from each other and the deck. One after the other they were discharged into the water, thereby once again concluding a record delivery safely and on time.
